    7.30 Wolverhampton - Plumette 6/1 (Coral,SkyB,Lads) - Locked 'n' Loaded 7/2 (Hills)
Quite like the look of two in this one (also put these up on the common race thread) , first one is PLUMETTE , who was in good form and then , from my perspective anyway , ran into trouble last time out and got going too late and could only manage 6th , that was over 1m 1/2f here at Wolverhampton , as i said previously she had been in grand form - 1,2,1 .. all over this evenings CD. She definatley has a liking for Wolverhampton imho , over CD here record reads three wins and two places from 7 runs and at the course overall she has had 15 outings resulting in five wins and four places. Trainer David Loughnane has just this one at the meeting and has a respectable 11% strike rate at the course overall , whilst jockey Laura Pearson helps the cause with her 3lb claim and is also here for just the one , she has ridden the horse before , the last twice , resulting in a win and a sixth. Shouldnt be far away at a course and distance she seems to do well at. LOCKED 'N LOADED is the other selection , he's coming into this on the back of a decent run last time out at Southwell where he was just denied by a neck . That was only his second start for new trainer Tony Carroll (previously in France with Francois Monfort and before that was with Richard Hannon and Tim Fitzgerald) so i think there is possibly more to come from this one now he's in new surroundings. Catches my eye that he's bottom weight here , and gets in off 64 , as he's won off as high as 75 before so you'd think he'd have to have a chance here and has run well at the course before , 2 wins and 3 places from 6 runs. Trainer hasnt been in the best of form to be honest but his runners generally do well here , has a 13% strike rate here this season. Jockey Alistair Rawlinson on board for the first time and he has a 20% strike rate over the past coupla weeks and this season has notched up a 22.6% strike rate along with a healthy £33.23 profit. Open looking race to be honest but i think if putting their best hooves forward my pair can make their presences felt.

    8.30 Wolverhampton - Hooflepuff 15/2 (365) - Pessoa 11/4 (365)
A handful look as though they could go close here but two in particular catch my attention , first one is PESSOA who has been holding his form well since leaving JJ Murphys yard for Adrian Wintles' back in December last year , since then he hasnt been out of the first three home in five runs - 1,2,3,1,3 and i cant see any reason why this decent run shouldnt continue here this evening. Has run well here on all starts to date , never been out of the frame , a win and a place from two runs over CD and two wins and two places from 4 runs overall.. Trainer brings just Pessoa here and Im expecting another good showing tonight all things being well especially with Oisin Murphy being booked for the first time , has a 24% strike rate over the last three weeks and this season when riding at the course he has a strike rate of 35.3% alongside a profit of +£20.25. The other one i like is HOOFLEPUFF , who is , i admit , a bit of a cliff horse of mine , hasnt been in the best of form admittedly but seems to be going in the right direction , a decent enough fifth over 1m1 1/2f here last time out was his best effort for a while imho. Given his record here at the course you couldnt totally discount him though , five wins and four places from twelve runs over CD and overall 9 wins and 6 places from 27 outings so definatley knows his way round here. Trainer not in the best of form at the moment but he fact shes brought just this one here gives me hope and Jason Hart in the plate who does well on him (two wins and a place from four rides) is another thing that leads me to believe that he could go well here tonight. Given his liking for the course and the 15/2 on offer i thought he was worth the risk.

    3.45 Hexham - Golan Cloud 11/4 (365)
GOLAN CLOUD catches my eye in this handicap hurdle , and i can see him going well today in the hope that he can recapture the crown he won in 2021. Comes into this after a fair enough fourth last time out , that was his second outing after a break (pulled up on first run) and i'm hoping that he will be spot on for this now. Has never run badly here at Hexham and has never been unplaced over todays CD in three races - one win and two places. And at the course overall he has one win and three places from four runs so he obviously has a liking for it round here imho. Not a prolific winner by any means having only won two races in his 18 race career but the fact that one of them came over CD (in this race) stands out for me , also interesting that all his places to date have come here as well and when you consider the fact that hes 10 years old he has remarkably few miles on the clock. Has won and placed on the going so i'm not concerned about the ground. When he won the race a couple of years ago he was running off a mark of 87 , gets in here today off 82 which adds to my list of positives. Jennie Candlish is a shrewd trainer and she brings just this one to the meeting , and over the last fortnight she's racked up a 27% strike rate , and when she brings them on the 180 odd mile trip to Hexham she has a healthy 22% strike rate , so i dont think she's brought him here for a day out. Jockey Sean Quinlan gets the steering job and he was onboard when the horse won the race in 2021 , infact has been on board on both his wins to date , making it two wins and three places from twelve rides. Has a 16.7% strike rate over the past month , and this season when he's visited Hexham he comes away with a 20.5% strike rate. When he and the trainer have teamed up over the past three weeks they have an eyecatching 37% strike rate. I cant see Jennie Candlish bringing the horse on the long trek here if she didnt think he stood a helluva chance and thats good enough for me.

    1.35 Lingfield - Mister X 11/2 (365)
Like the look of MISTER X in this one , up against what looks to be a decent favourite in Englebert tbh but i'm hoping that the 5lb rise in the weights will anchor his chances a tad , the selection won over CD last time , beating Originally by a short head , making it one from one here at Leafy. What catches my eye about this one is the fact that since going over 7f he has won three times and placed once (second) from five runs , so you couldnt write him off with any sort of conviction in all honesty. Stuart Williams has a 29% strike rate in the past three weeks , and he's one of the shrewder trainers in my opinion , and imho all his runners warrant a look. Jockey Luke Catton in the saddle and this is his sole ride of the meeting , he rode him last time out over the CD win and from his seven rides on the horse he's managed three wins and a place. His 5lb claim wont go unappreciated either. At the price i think the selection is well worth a go to topple the favourite.

    2.10 Lingfield - Divine Messenger 15/2 (365,CoralBFred,Lads) - Shabs 3/1 (365,Coral,Hills,Lads,BFred)
Couple catch my interest , first up is current favourite SHABS , who is still a maiden after 18 runs but has ran well in defeat on several ocassions and has come second six times so surely he's due a bit of luck and hopefully his day will be today! Ran well last time out when second over a mile here at Lingers , beaten 3/4 length by Rivas Rob Roy , has run well before over todays trip , coming second (one of those by a nose) twice from four attempts so i dont think the furlong drop will be an issue. Trainer Martin Smith brings just this one to the meeting , and he's added first time visors which could well aid the horses cause , whilst Richard Kingscote gets the leg up for the first time and he rode for the trainer on Monday , All About Alice , who went down by a neck. If in the same sort of form as his last run he should be well in the firing line come the business end. Top weight DIVINE MESSENGER is the other selection , hasnt been at his best in his last two starts admittedly but before that won two on the bounce , both in classified stakes over todays CD and in the latter one he beat the re opposing Ballybaymoonshiner by a neck and im hoping that he can confirm that form here today. Has won two from three over CD (aforementioned races) and has won four and placed in three from 16 runs at the course overall. Think its interesting that he wears first time blinkers , and hopefully they can see him put in a better effort here this afternoon. Trainer Emma Owen sends just this one and shes done well when sending her runners to Lingfield this term with a 33.3% strike rate. Jockey Callum Hutchinson on board for the first time easing the horses burden with his 5lb claim on whats his only ride of the meeting. If the blinkers work i can see him troubling the main protaganists.

    6.00 Wolverhampton - Fayasel 11/4 (365) - We'renotreallyhere 16/1 (365)
Quite an open looking 7f handicap where a few look as though they could go in but i like the look of a pair who i think can go well , first one is joint top weight FAYASEL who comes into this after a nice win last time out , beating Landlordtothestars by 3 1/2 lengths in what was an eyecatching performance over todays CD. To be honest he was probably value for a bit further as he was being eased down , that win , first of his career , came after being gelded so that may well have helped his racing, Has gone up 9lb for that , which is a bit of a hike , but the dominating way in which he won would suggest to me that that may not stop him following up here this evening , as he's only 3yo theres plenty of scope for improvement i would say. Mike Murphy / Michael Keady send just this one to the races whilst the inform Daniel Muscutt gets the leg up , he was on the horse last time out so is 1 from 1 on the horse , and has an 18% strike rate over the last 21 days. If in the same sort of mood as his last run then he shouldnt be far away. The other one is another joint top weight WE'RENOTREALLYHERE , who is yet to win in 8 races but has shown glimmers of ability , so theres something there to build on and i think its probable that hes gonna win a race sooner rather than later. Only had two runs on the all weather , one of those over CD , where he came second to Al Shami , form wise that race looks fairly good and if he can rediscover that form here then i think he can go close. Trainer JJ Quinn is one i like to keep on the right side of for the most part and he has a 25% strike rate over the past month , and this one is his only runner for the meeting , jockey Dale Swift also comes here for just this one and this will be his first time on the horse. At the price i think hes worth a go as a shot to nothing.

    3.50 Taunton - Apple Rock 11/4 (Hills) - My Last Oscar 9/1 (365,Hills)
Trappy looking race if i'm being honest but i'm siding with the pair who are proven at the distance and also happen to be the only CD winners in the race , first one is APPLE ROCK who racked up a three timer before taking a break , then ran respectably enough on his return but did look a bit ring rusty and could only manage sixth at Ascot over 2m7 1/2f .. Im thinking that he'll strip fitter for that run now and should hopefully be seen in a better light here today. Has won over todays CD , on penultimate outing , beating The Changing Man by 1/2 length , showed a bit of spirit and battling quality in that one to achieve the three timer so we know he wont go down without a fight. Trainer Ben Pauling brings just this one to the meeting , and he has an 11% strike rate over the last three weeks , and a 22.2% strike rate when bringing them to Taunton this season. Jockey Luca Morgan also here for this one alone , and has four wins and a place from thirteen rides aboard the horse to date. Has been riding well lately with an 18.4% strike rate over the past month and he too has done well at the course this season with a 66.7% strike rate. And when the pair have teamed up over the past three weeks they have a healthy 19% strike rate. If he's back to anything like he was running before the break he'll go close here today i think. The other one i like the look of is MY LAST OSCAR who is currently the outsider of the field but i think its possible that he could spring a surprise. Fell in his last race , first run back after 127 day break , but like the other selection i think he'll improve for that initial outing , or i'm hoping so anyway. He won a handicap hurdle back in March '22 , and looked good in doing so in all honesty , doesnt seem to be the most reliable of sorts having only won twice from eleven runs but i'm hoping that a return to the scene of his last success might spark a revival. Will have to up his game but i think thats entirely possible. Jockey David Prichard here for this one ride , and he has one win (over CD) from his two rides , the other one being last time out when the horse fell. Has a 17% SR in the past fortnight and has done well here at Taunton with his rides this term with a 36.4% strike rate and a profit of +£19.38 to boot. Trainer Nicky Martin also been amongst the winners lately with an 18.2% strike rate in the past month and like the jockey has done well here this season with a 50% strike rate and a massive +£207.38 profit alongside it! If he's not bothered by that last time out fall and is at his best then i can see him going well.

    4.20 Southwell - Bert Kibbler 7/1 (365) - Angle Land 4/1 (Hills)
Quite an open looking race but i've gone for a pair who were first and second at Southwell when they first met , firstly the winner of that meeting BERT KIBBLER , beat Angle Land by a length and a quarter last time out after what i'd consider a poor showing on his penultimate run when only managing fifth over the same CD as his lto win. Angle Land went in next time out as did the sixth home , Murbih. I think coming here can only improve his chances as he has an excellent record at Shuvvel with three wins and a place from his five runs over CD to date. Has a 5lb rise to contend with but if in the same mood as when last seen i think he can go well despite that. This is trainer David Barrons' only runner on the card , and hes been amongst the winners lately with a 22.2% strike rate in the past month and he has a 19% strike rate here this season. Ben Curtis on the horse for the first time and he seems to do well when coming to Southwell , overall he has a 23.1% strike rate and a profit of +£7.57. Cant see this one being far away come the business end. ANGLE LAND , as stated was second to the other selection but then came out and won next time out beating Crimson Sand at Chelmsford , has gone up 4lb but i think he still has something to give and should be fighting out the finish. Like Bert Kibbler seems to like it here at Shuvvel with a win and 2 places from his 4 runs here over CD. Trainer Robert Cowell sends two to the meeting , both in this race , and he has a 50% strike rate over the past two weeks so stable looks to be in form as does jockey Daniel Muscutt who has a 21% strike rate over the past fortnight , and does well here overall with a 23.5% strike rate and a bountiful profit of +£62.83. Has ridden the horse twice before resulting in wins on both ocassions , last time out and in the horses last run before having a break when he beat Miss Belladonna , here at Southwell over CD. Definatley in with a big shout and i'd be surprised if he werent battling out the finish.

    7.00 Chelmsford - Iconic Moment 9/4 (365,Coral,BFred,Lads) - New Definition 8/1 (365,Coral,Lads)
Trainer Jason Tate is bang in form at the moment (last 6 races - 2,1,1,3,3,1) and the fact that he sends two out to Chelmsford to run in the same race immediatley caught my eye , especially as they were first and second last time out when they mate at Lingfield over 7f at the beginning of last month. Lets start with the winner first , ICONIC MOMENT , who won the race by a short head , even though it was only a short distance he won by it was still a solid win and i think he'll appreciate this extra furlong this evening which i think will play to his strengths. That race came after 116 days off so that was a good performance and i think he'll probably come on for that initial run. Has won all of his three races to date , the other two being here at Chelmsford (also over 7f) , its hard not to be impressed by what hes done so far as he's won comfortably in all of them really imho and the fact that his trainer has an entry for him in the 2000 Guineas shows that he's held in high regard at home. Jason Watson in the hot seat for the first time and he has a 50% strike rate over the past two weeks whilst trainer Jason Tate , as already mentioned is bang in form , with a 41.7% strike rate over the past month (50% over the past fortnight) and he has a 28.6% strike rate when sending his runners to the course this season. The other one , the second , is NEW DEFINITION , who ran a stormer in defeat to his stablemate imo and should come on for that run as he was coming back from a 72 day lay off. Won his previous race , beating Hiatus by 4 1/2 lengths at Leafy , both of those runs were over 7f (his only two runs over the trip) and like his stablemate i think he should handle the step up to a mile. Has only run once here at Chelmsford , when he was second over 6f. Tom Queally gets the ride on his sole start of the day , and he's ridden the horse the last twice , resulting in a win and a place. Has been in decent enough form lately with a 20% strike rate in the past two weeks. Some tough looking opposition (Bold Act - Charlie Appleby , Brave Emperor - Archie Watson , Alzahir - John Gosden etc ..) lines up against the selections but i just think that one of these pair are the most likely winner at what i consider decentish prices.

    3.35 Doncaster - Baradar 10/1 (BFred)
Obviously has to put one up for the Lincoln didnt I ? ... No , not really i hear you reply lol ... but on the face of it considering it looks to be an open looking race despite the well touted ones at the front of the market i think BARADAR has to be of interest here. Hasnt been seen for 147 days , so fitness has to be taken on trust but i cant see the trainer running him here if he didnt think he had a chance of walking away with the spoils. Was last seen winning on stable debut for George Boughey (had been with Johnny Murtagh) back in November last year when beating Biggles by a length and a quarter over 7f here at Donny in a class 2 handicap. Which makes his record here at the course one win and one place from two runs , the place came over todays CD. Caught my eye that that last run came on heavy going so i think the underfoot conditions shouldnt hurt his chances as hes also won and placed on soft/heavy going , neither should any further rain. That last outing was also the best he's run for ages , probably since his first season where he looked to be going places but for whatever reason failed to improve on his initial successess , maybe the new surroundings of the Boughey yard have renewed his interest and he can go well again here. Trainer certainly knows the time of day and i wouldnt discount anything he runs in a race such as this one , has been in good form lately with a 25% strike rate in the past month , and does well enough when sending them to Donny overall with a 12% strike rate. Jockey Kevin Stott aint too shabby when it comes to the steering job and this will be his first time aboard the horse , has a 33% strike rate over the past coupla weeks. If fit and ready to roll then i'll be surprised if the selection isnt making his presence felt where it matters.
