Edison Cavani to be Uraguay's top scorer, 19/10, Unibet. It's a hedge against Suarez, in the hope that with Suarez apparently not playing, Cavani might net against a side who aren't renowned for their defence, and Suarez will lengthen in time for me to back him.

And if Suarez doesn't regain full fitness, Cavani might be a good punt in his own right, assuming age isn't on Forlan's side any more.

Good luck TC. I had completely forgot about Forlan - fantastic player.

I know Traeth is waiting on Uruguay tonight so fingers crossed. Costa Rica look to be the whipping boys as the other 3 teams will fancy their chances against each other so it may come down to goal difference so I'm thinking about backing over 3.5 in that game.

I've backed England to beat the Italian's. I like the England squad this year mainly because there will be surprises because I don't think Hodgson knows what his best 11 is. In previous years the team has picked itself but this year because there is the unknown I think the players will play for the jersey.

I'm into goals as well. I've backed singles & doubles on 3-2's so far each day as I felt it'd be high scoring with the conditions, whereas normally you'd think canny draws early on.

Taken a very small bet on Uraguay (0) at 1/7. Slightly concerned about the impact on losing Suarez, and I'll wait until I've seen both sides before risking anything more in the second round of games. Good luck to traeth in his more confident bet on Uraguay :crossfingers

As the commentators said, "Didn't se that coming," and the reason I generally keep to interst bets until I've seen each team.

For the England/Italy game, I can see a draw - equally matched sides, and following the Uraguay result, a win may be less crucial. Gone with the general 2/1.

Costa Rica " the whipping boy " of the group go and win 3-1 , upsetting my world cup betting .
I stayed in to watch it and Uruguay in the second half wound me up more than those buggers down the pub.
Giving up betting on this W.C.

    who's playing today?
that abstention did not last long.

Wouldn't like to call tomorrows England game in case I put the mockers on it lol.
After what Costa Rica did to Uruguay they will be looking to bounce back and as expected the south American sides seem to be doing very well, It's going to be a nervy 90 mins.
With it probably being a shit or bust game I wouldn't be surprised to see Uraguay try every dirty trick in the book and if they go behind expect to see plenty of yellows and the odd red.

I think I'm going to be all over England like a dug eating hot chips.

They played well enough v Italy (apart from Rooney who did have a mare) to suggest they've got enough in the locker to take care if Uruguay.

Rooney will be fired up for this and although the argument still goes on about what position he should play but with Oxlaide Chamberlain still out Rooney is a cert to start.

Suarez is supposedly 100% fit and raring to go which should be a plus for Uruguay but I think they rely on him too much.

I've also been liking the interviews given by the likes of Sturridge and Woy. They seem confident enough in the England camp which I also like. It's a pity the bigger prices have gone but if I can get 6/4 ish then I might pile in for some more

Suarez can't be 100% fit. You can't miss five weeks training or whatever it is and be 100% fit. I'm not buying that shit but it's shit or bust for them so he'll have to start. When I've managed football teams I've always been a big believer in starting anyone returning from an injury rather than having them on the bench, bringing them on as sub and then having to replace them when they break down.

Suarez will start but I'd doubt he'll play the full game.

As for the result, I'm backing the draw and a tense final day for England fans (just for a change)

With Suarez starting, I've taken him as top scorer at bwin's 3/1, following my earlier punt on Cavani. Still looking for an angle for the match.

I've decided I like the look of goals. Both sides have picked attacking line-ups, and both are better going forward than defensively. A danger is that both might settle for a draw which would leave things largely in their own hands (assuming Italy win) if it's level late on. 4/5, Sky

And also a small bet on England to qualify at general 10/11. I think England should win tonight but don't like the odds; I think this bet gives slightly more value, and I'll be able to hedge some of it back if Uraguay win.
