France, Brazil, Holland would be my picks (and many other people's I suspect). "You can't rule out Germany" they say but the fact is that they are fucking shite at the back and France have played some penetrative football that will find them out. The goals in 90 mins have dried up a little since the group stages but this is either going to be a 0-0 or Both teams to score bet (in fact, the latter with a 0-0 cover).

I just couldn't pick a winner in the Argentina Belgium game. Not just because I'm on Argentina to win it and backed Belgium at 33/1 before they'd qualified (the talent of the names in the squad has not been matched by the football yet in my opinion) but neither seem convincing, yet both can play some football at times - although those times for Argentina revolve around a single player. If I had no money on either and someone put a gun to my head and demanded a pick, I'd say that Belgium's all round team game and strength in depth of talent would win over the one-man team in 120 minutes.

To say that Argentina doesn't impress is an under-statement. Their midfield, defense and goal-keeper are at mediocre level and far away from the standards of a 1/4 finals of the World Cup. They were punished twice by Nigeria, but in fact, they deserved to concede goals against both Iran and Switzerland - especially the Swiss created a plethora of excellent scoring chances, most of them with active contribution by Argentina defense.

Also, I don't like neither the interaction among the attacking people in Argentina's squad, nor their slow and boring rhythm. It seems that they leave all to Messi, but to be fair, despite a few moments of brilliance, he doesn't seem to play his best football at this tournament and for big parts of the game he has very little influence on the events on the pitch.

Belgium is the most balanced team in this tournament, with plenty of class in each line, starting from probably the best goal-keeper in the world and finishing with two very promising strikers like Lukaku and Origi.Belgians are gradually finding their form and had their best game of the Mondial against the USA, when the Red Devils deserved to win with huge margin.

All in all, I don't see where the advantage of Argentina should come from. They continue to play crap and very dispirited football, and apart from several super-stars, the rest of the team is of very questionable quality (including their coach). Belgium is full with belief and getting into their best form. Psychological advantage is entirely with Belgium as they have already achieved their goal in this tournament and everything more they can get here is over-achievement for them, unlike Argentina, for which failing for one more World Cup to pass the 1/4 finals will be considered a failure.

Your English has taken a sudden and unexpected turn for the better BeaBea.

.....or you've co-pied that from somewhere. I know which one I'd bet on.

Taken over 2.5 in the first quarter final at general 5/4. I like that Germany have brought Klose in, but they have looked a little vulnerable to teams having a go at them. France have the forward players to do that.

1-0 at HT but again I agree with you TC, France do have the players to get at them so im on them to score the next goal

France were a bit of a let down, that could have been a lot heavier defeat if Germany had a decent striker, I was thinking it might cost them dearly in the semi or final but nobody is exactly banging them in for fun are they apart from Rodriguez which could make a huge difference in the next match.

Like both of you, I was disappointed with France. Germany's defence is okay, but it's not up there with great German defences of the past and I can't understand why France didn't have more of a go.

Anyway, onto the next match, and it's Columbia/draw for me at evens, thanks to a PaddyPower free bet. I suspect Brazil will win but Columbia have surprised me, so this is to some extent a hedge against my Brazil to win the WC bet.

Brazil have got to be worth laying at 1.27, they really haven't done enough so far to warrant that price with so long still to go. Don't fancy them keeping a clean sheet.

I had this game down as a 1-1 and all the other quarters a 2-1 win for the favourites, I should have stuck with all the bleedin favourites.

Brazil can win it because all the refs seem to be homers and not one team has stood out in this tournament so far, saying that b4 the tourny started I had a Germany v Argie final, I'm not so sure about Argentina but I reckon Germany will get the better of Brazil in the semis because neither have a stand out striker but in every other position I'd say Germany have the edge.
People can say what they want about Neymar but he's far from the finished article and when he's caught in possession he usually loses the ball, he great running onto a ball and going forward but a square or backward pass to him usually ends up with the other team getting the ball,it's not just at this WC I've noticed that but at Barcelona too.

The way these two quarter's have gone I'll go for a Argentina and Holland win tomorrow but I wouldn't touch the Dutch at those odds, Belgium on paper look a cracking side but watching them they seem to lack fluidity, Argentina don't look too great either but when you have a player like Messi in your side it's all you need to change a game as tight as this.
I expect him to be the difference tomorrow night.

Brazil team doctor has just announced that Neymar's World Cup is over. Fractured 3rd vertebrae, "needs to be immobilised...a few weeks"

Massive blow for Brazil - I've just layed them lumpy @ 3.2 and backed Germany @ 3.8 and Argentina @ 5.6. Surely the market will react to this news.

Went in again. Hopefully when I awake in the morning, Brazil will be out to near 4.0 and Germany in to 3.2 :crossfingers

Not looking good for them is it Seen, after I saw the challenge on Neymar I said to the wife 'that could be his kidney's' to which she replied 'nah there's fcuk all wrong with him', I replied 'No it could be serious, a ruptured kidney could kill you' to which she replied 'who the fcuk do you think you are; Fergie?' wtf do you reply to that lol.

Germany were my favourites before these mishaps and like Asda would say 'Every little helps'.
What get's me most with Brazil is the average age must be one of the highest in the comp, they aren't a great team and home advantage may well give them an extra player but surely a very organised young on average team like Germany will nip it in the bud, my only concern will be the homer refs and no side having a prolific striker.
If it comes down to the battle of the midfield then Germany may well have then strength in depth but I reckon Brazil may have a sharper edge when it comes to finishing, still overall i think Germany will edge it.

The fact i am new on this forum does not necessarily means that my English is bad, and it is for my second time watching the WC, and i am really new in the field and my resume is based on my and my friend's humble observations

I'm not basing my opinion on the fact that you are new to this forum. I'm basing on the fact that your English hasn't been very good. How you can go from "I also consider crap the world cup song" to "the Swiss created a plethora of excellent scoring chances" defies logic. Just my view, feel free to ignore me.
