How are we all? Been a while....

He's gone then, The Bruce. Not really a shock in the end, as some of his decisions lately suggested that the siege mentality he felt had gone so far that it wasn't so much as wood from trees than real oak flooring to formica printed stuff.
How the fuck did Glenn Whelan end up taking that penalty after 1 goal in 7 years :duh :lol
I was still in his camp until recently, & I only ever left it due to the fans making it untenable. A couple of mates outside of Villa told me he's 'outdated & old hat'.....that made me wonder for the first time, but still he's been promoted more than most, if not anyone up to the Prem still managing.
1 win in 9, only 2 this season, only 8 in the last 24. All true.
Yet we were lower than than 13th at this stage last season & once the loan players gelled we made the play off final. Fulham were 18th at this stage ffs!!
He inherited the financial situation & had to make a lot of loan signings, this season even later than the previous one as the 2 new owners came in later in the summer. He didn't moan when it looked like armageddon was near after the play off final defeat, no threats or tantrums. He just carried on.
Villa appointed a Director of Football at a board meeting monday night that's not been in the press. Yes, the night before the Preston game. I don't know who, but he's apparently European.
There was a rumour yesterday that John Terry was undergoing a medical. We need him badly as a centre half as Bruce lost the Kilmarnock kid he was after on deadline day having let Tommy Elphick go out on loan hours before (ammunition, true) but Terry hasn't got his badges. He must have fell out with Bruce as well, leaving the day after Wembley, but he didn't take his last 2 or 3 months pay either with the state we were in.
We're obviously going the Wolves route, & Jorge Mendes was already involved. Abel Ferreira, the Braga boss? Olef Mellberg an outsider?
If Bruce was treated like this then similar managers like Allardyce & Moyes are non-runners surely?
They haven't been at the Blues mind you, & this is what it surely comes down to.
Brucie's a pro, & he didn't deserve this after the last 2 years & the last 12 months in particular with his parents.
You're better off out of it mate, as the cabbage thing is a fucking disgrace.
Villa fans should hang their heads in shame having accelerated this. We need to be careful what we wish for, it's 2018, not 1982

But you never do. You treat this place like a hotel. You should be ashamed of yourself:lol

Hi Swooper - nice to see you again

So were you Steve - UK ... or was I ? :thinking

Anyway - an interesting view of Steve you had there (Bruce not UK) ... Ultimately we have the most expensivelly assembled squad in Div 2 - but we only have one centre back. That is James Chester and as he was sent off against Preston we will play Milwall with no recognised centre back :duh. Who else can be blamed for this

I think this clip sums up the Bruce time exactly

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06mwgdk

How on earth did anyone get a cabbage into the ground anyway - last time I went I was searched outside :unsure

Pleased to hear you weren’t searched inside as well Colbro, those latex gloves can be a bit painfull on a cold day.

In the old Baseball ground days John Robertson was dribbling down the wing when someone in the crowd threw a pig’s head at him. lol

Must have been you, Colbro, I'd have lost my job the length of time it took to write Steve-Uk's post's :naughty

It's a good point you make regarding centre-half's, & him playing Jedinak there is one of the big problem's he's had crowd wise. He clearly thought he'd got the Kilmarnock kid in with about 6 hours to go & so let Tommy Elphick leave for the 2nd time, & then Kilmarnock turned away as they had no time to get a replacement, as we should probably have done. In the age of FFP though I guess those wages had to go first, & he had to cope with the money only being made available at the 11th hour.
I'll give you this back https://7500toholte.sbnation.com/2018/10/4/17936358/steve-bruce-the-man-behind-the-manager

He had to go in the end, no question, it's how we got to there we should be hanging our heads

Shame to hear about Deadly Doug today. 94, not a bad innings.

Dean Smith a good appointment for the Villa? I liked him at Hereford. Solid defender, leader. Good luck to him.
