By rights, the next 10 should also go your way Punt. Not holding my breath mind.

11.10 Vaal - WINGS OF LIGHT and FLAME DANCER - WOL is more exposed than most, but improved last time and can improve again at 25's. FD is a possible improver at 50's.

11.45 Vaal - ROYAL SOLDIER and STARS AND BARS - RS can improve again and SAB looks a nicely bred newcomer. Both available at 25's.

12.20 Vaal - KING OF THE DELTA - Only one not at 10's or more, but in fair form and remains nicely weighted at 5's.

12.55 Vaal - SIENNA SKY - Nicely bred debutante at 25's.

1.30 Vaal - PIUS OIL - Took a while escaping Maiden company, but eventual win was a fair effort and h'cap debut not bad either. Shade big for me at 20's.

2.05 Vaal - LAURENT DU VAR - Better than recent form suggests and handicapper certainly gives him a chance today. Trainer's only runner on the card and could easily go well at 25's.

2.10 Chepstow - EARLY EDITION - Has quickly doubled in price to 16's and basically could not resist such a nicely bred newcomer at said price.

2.40 Vaal - AQUABUOY - Bit more like it last time and tends to hit form and stay at that level for a while, so very happy with the 16's on offer.

4.35 Nottingham - MAMBO DANCER - Twice a fair runner up on the ground and better than last time suggests. Bit surprised by the 10's on offer.

5.50 Sligo - CASTLETOWNSHEND - Decent effort last time and every chance if building on that at 10's.

6.50 Sligo - FASTIDIOUS - Getting on a bit now, but still has a bit left in the tank and weighted to go very well at 16's.

Got done on the line again yesterday, Biggest bet of the day. Masham Star 13/8 fav ffs.

I'm on 3 for this evening, i wont be able to watch due to work though.

    Sou 5.35 LE PRECIEUX @ 12/1.
Outsider of 5 and i cant give no logical reason for backing this. I was on it lto, it ran well for a while but came to a stop quite quickly. They've even put Andrew Glassonbury back on it rather than one of the Moore lads, which also comes across as a bit of a negative.
But for some reason it does have the biggest slice of the pie chart on oddschecker for being backed in the race and the 12/1 has gone for now, into 10 and 11/1 best.

    Kem 6.55 ATWAAR @ 14/1.
The fav looks good in this and i think the best i can hope for is a place but i've got to do it, despite Ed Dunlop not firing yet. He did get closer with a couple yesterday though.
My reason for taking this first time out is because my flat season so far has been decent, just by backing Hamdam Al Maktoum's runners that are at an each way price. As an owner with horses in several yards he's had a great start and i've noticed he likes to run a couple in some races. What is worth noting too its usually his least fancied runner that does best. Blue and white silks, black cap, i'm always on it.
He has two runners in the race before this but are too short to back for me and i cant split the two.

    Sou 8.05 BOHER LAD @ 16/1
This one interests me most. I was talking to the trainer (local) a couple of weeks back, not about this particular horse, just about racing in general. Unfortunately i'd had too many Guinness on board at the time and i cant remember too much he said, other than he'd not had a great start to the season, but he did say things will pick up in the coming months.
That aside, BOHER LAD is the only C&D winner in the race, dual C&D winner infact and it's good to see him going to his favourite track on his favourite ground again, after a couple of poor runs elsewhere.
The odds on fav has a 10lb rise to deal with and there are no other course winners in the race. I think the 16/1 could be a little bit generous. He loves it at Southwell!

Each way singles and a very small each way trixie.

8.05 Southwell - Assuming you can't pick a 3rd Non - Runner Punt, so going with yours and adding a couple more in the shape of THE LION MAN at 10's and BLUE RHYTHM at 20's.

Well done with those two. Mine was disappointing and beaten before two out. Had a strong feeling the short priced favourite would get beat though.
Can i ask how often you play forcasts and tricasts, Samoan? Do you take each one as singles too? I'm guessing wins aren't regular on tricasts but when they land they are big and can fund you for ages.
Combo forcasts and tricasts is something i always play on the greyhounds, but i've never tried them on the horses. I'm tempted to have a crack at them.

If I fancy one at a price, then I generally look for others to go with it. Late info from the South African commentator often helps as does the paddock watch and evaluation from Hong Kong. Don't do " the field " as some suggest, but if you really do fancy one at 25's or more then covering all combinations could work, though of course it gets expensive quickly.

Probably end up with 2 to 3 a day on average and have had a couple hit in the last month. I had the one with your ( much appreciated ) help at 9k and then had one in South Africa at just over 3K. On the SA one, I fancied and put up the eventual 3rd, had an inkling about the 2nd and picked up something from the commentator about the eventual winner.

Can often be scurrying around to get them on, but with the late snippets, no real time to think about it which often helps.

Obviously a low percentage bet and could not include them in any profit / loss stats as one big win can skew things immensely, but basically a good 'un can set you up for a year and you can be flexible over the stakes.

Do take everything as a single as well, but essentially if I am backing a decent priced one, I want to give myself a shot at something bigger. Have found it better not to try and force the " exotic " bets, but if a couple of others catch your eye, then for relatively small money, they can be worth a shot. When ATTHERACES show the Hong Kong action ( usually Weds and Sunday morning ) I will have a dabble at the " first four " bet, which is exactly as described. Combo bets are available and Bet365 take them to 10p stakes, so for just over a fiver, the potential for 5 or 6 figure pots is there.

    Thursday 24th May

1.30 Goodwood - PIRATE and GOLDEN FORCE - Pair of nicely bred newcomers, both at 12's.

1.50 Catterick - NOT SO SHY - Missed the 33's on QUINTANA ROO ( Now 10's ) so ended up with NSS instead. No back number for me on debut though as is nicely bred and the stable can get one ready at 16's.

5.15 Tipperary - SOLO CARGO - Not badly bred at all and for me the most likely of the " rags " at 100's.

6.35 Sandown - NAKAKANDE - Couple of runs over in France read well and not sure she should be 33's back on home soil.

11.15 Vaal - VILLAGE DEEP - Not unfancied on debut, but got going too late. Minimum stakes as it is a workriders event, but this one does appeal at 25's.

12.25 Vaal - NATIONAL KEY - Lowest mark in a long time now and should have plenty of pace to aim at this trip. Should be finishing strongly at 25's.

1.00 Vaal - SHIMMIRRA - Bit of money around for this one on debut, but did not seem to appreciate the blinkers and ended up well beaten. No headgear today and looks a possible improver at 33's.

1.35 Vaal - EFFORTLESS - Better than recent form suggests, prefers this distance and the handicapper gives him a real chance at 20's.

Thanks Samoan, very interesting and be having a crack at a few over the next few weeks when i have a double figure price that i fancy. Maybe take 4 selections at 24 or 5 at 60 combinations. I might just look for one a day at 10p stakes. Cheers.

10.50 Scottsville - CARLBURG and THOMAS JEFFERSON at 50's and 100's respectively.

11.25 Scottsville - GRACI LITEHOUSECAT - Backed this one on disappointing debut, but too nicely bred to ignore after one run. Would expect to see a lot more today at 40's.

12.00 Scottsville - CASHIN - Comes across from the Gauteng area for this one and his form has been of a stronger nature. Looked a tough task initially under top weight, but the good young jockey's 9lb claim could prove invaluable at 10's.

1.10 Scottsville - CANUKEEPITSECRET - First run at this course was a fair one and for me, does not have that much to find this field at 16's.

1.45 Scottsville - IN CAHOOTS - Stable 3rd string, but certainly no back number at 14's.
