Anybody have any experience with these?

We're with virgin and as Moans works from home she's reliant on it but it's been a bit hit and miss these last couple of years so she's sacking it and going back onto a normal phone line and BB.

I know download speeds are nowhere near as fast as cable so I'm thinking of getting an all you can eat data sim and 4G router.
Anybody used one before and if so what were the downloads speeds like, I've been reading about and see some people getting 60 to 70 mbs but I've also seen other people getting 10mbs or less on the same networks.

Took the plunge and it's brill.

Got a 12 month three contract 'unlimited' everything (14 day send it back if it's shit) , borrowed a 4g router and bingo.

No dropouts whatsoever and streaming it's seamless, just ordered a better router (one where you can plug a landline phone into and utilise the free calls, Cat 6 and loads of yadda yadda yadda).

I'm currently getting 56mbs download and 30mbs upload and that's living on the fringe of a 'three' footprint, the new router should increase that as the antenna is a lot more sensitive.

It's actually not far off what I'm currently getting with Virgin but the upload speed is 6 times as fast.

    Well that didn't last long.
Openreach were working outside one of the bro in laws houses this morning and cut through his BB.
It's going to be nearly a week before it's repaired, and as he was here last night and I was telling him the benefits of my new 4g setup I felt obliged to let him borrow it as the new BB is not being installed until the 24th and were still on virgin until then.

I did though manage to bag a better huawei router on ebay today that gives me wider coverage around the house and comes with an rj11 socket so I can plug a landline phone into it, which lets me utilise the free unlimited calls on the sim card too.

Got it back yesterday and the Bro in law was as pleased as punch with it and it gonna get one when his current BB contract runs out in January, it'll save him £30 quid a month.

Now it's back I've set the new router up and plugged in the landline and it's perfect, no more worrying about phoning mobiles or recalling after an hr (not that I talk for that long on the phone anyhow but you know what women are like:wink)

The new router is fantastic, covers the whole house unlike the virgin so called superhub that can't get past the fcuking living room which for the last god knows how many years has cost me a fortune in home plug adapters.

Unlimited calls and BB all for a couple of quid more than your standard line rental is well worth considering imo and if you like texting; np's the router lets you text for free too.

I should add that it all depends on what the 4g signal is like where you live.
A friend of mine who only lives a couple of miles away tried the same setup and he could hardly get pasts 1mbs download speed as he lives on the periphery of a 4g three mast.
Under the 14 day satisfaction warranty he was allowed to return it and nothing lost.

Still going strong and not had one outage since I've had it.

Moans's new ADSl broadband on the other hand goes down at least a couple of times a day just like virgin did.

Hi and welcome to Betnod Pwayman.

It's been brilliant for me and a lot more stable than Virgin, don't think I've had any downtime since I swapped over.

If you're thinking about it the first thing I'd do is get a free or cheap Three Sim and make sure the signal is ok in your area.

    Np's m8.
defo worth it if you get a good signal.

Also Smarty.co.uk are part of three and offering unlimited everything for £18.75 a month without the need for a rolling contract, cancel whenever you want.

Or alternatively if you are a student or can get hold of a .ac.uk email address you can get unlimited everything for £16 a month but you will have to select a 12 or 24 month contract.....

Still can't knock the 4g router, never let me down once:crossfingers

Will be even better on 5g as I imagine those speeds should give the fastest ISP's a run for their money, downside at the moment is the price of 5g routers but isn't that the same for all new technology.
Once they're being mass produced and the price hits around the ton mark then I can see a lot more people switching over and saving a small fortune.

I've been looking forward to getting a Huawei 5G router as Huawei are the beez kneez but after the UK has now bowed down to Trump does that mean routers are effected too?

Man what a shower of pussys we have governing us and just watch the US walk over us when we have Brexit because we have a shower of shit houses looking after our interests.

If we're not careful we'll just become another state of America if we're not already.

Better that than let the Chinese have control of our entire communications system. No need for a war, just flick a switch and everything in the country stops cos no fucker can talk to each other.
