10.55 Greyville - VALERIANA - 3rd start today and has shown pace on both starts to date. FAV not for me at odds on and this looks a fair EW alternative at 16's.

11.30 Greyville - MY PATH - Well bred newcomer who represents a top yard. Half expecting the early 33's to be a mistake, but certainly looks interesting at such a price.

12.05 Greyville - KINGSTON BOY - Last time in a 90 rated handicap resulted in a fair 3rd and has been dropped 5lb for today. Certainly interesting at 33's.

12.40 Greyville - TWO CUPS - Quite nicely bred and is the sole debutante in the race at 25's.

12.00 Navan - POTTSIE - To me, is the best of the " rags " at 100's.

1.30 Navan - FOLLY DAT - Not the most fluent jumper, but does hold fair form in relation to this field at 10's.

3.30 Navan - SWINGBRIDGE - Possibly not up to this level, but remains a useful sort at 50's.

3.40 Uttoxeter - LITTLE MILLIE - Remains in good nick and stable still going well at 10's.

2.25 Flamingo Park - ARCTIC BLAST - Poor form since relocating here, but very well treated on best form and tries the blinkers today at 28's.

2.35 Kempton - OFFICER HOOLIHAN - Goes well fresh, so long break not a huge concern at 12's

11.10 Vaal - NIKHILS WORLD and PEARL DREAM - Pair of newcomers at 33's and 100's respectively.

12.10 Southwell - FILAMENT OF GOLD - Drifter to 20's, which just looks too big to me.

12.30 Lingfield - PHOENIX RIVER - Fair enough debut and should improve. Henderson unraced to beat, but not sure it should be 2's on and would rather go with PR at 18's

12.55 Vaal - MELCHIZDEK - Was expecting nearer 5's, so could not really refuse at 12's.

2.50 Vaal - CASCIANO - Fair old pull with a couple of these and should have plenty of pace to aim at. Bit surprised by the early 25's on offer.

3.25 Vaal - CLAIRVOYANCE - Handicapper has been lenient with this one and really should be thereabouts at 10's

3.30 Lingfield - SHANTUNG - Bumper form OK and did hint at ability last time over hurdles. Certainly bred to do better at 25's

TA showed minor improvement, VH faded late on, Eccellerate was poor and SG did not run. SHARPE'S EAGLE won at 14's ( or 25's with a 30p R4 ) and Haylor was quietly backed and won with a bit to spare at 11's. Did have a nice treble going on First Mate, but whilst well positioned, could only manage 5th.

Saturday 1st December

One of the biggest days in the racing calendar in Gauteng province and 12 races, plus a " half-time " extravaganza ( 70 minutes between the 6th and 7th races ) featuring some top South African performers. The whole thing will take just over 7 hours, so a tremendous undertaking for all concerned. The Grade1 Summer cup ( 2.45 ) looks very tricky, with TILBURY FORT, too short for me at 11/2. Stable mate SOCIAL ORDER an interest only bet at 20's. Pretty decent card throughout and picked out the following 5 races -

2nd, backed in to 6/1. Thought it was going to get there all the way up the run in but the winner stayed on gamely and won fair and squarey
