Chiara was Withdrawn and PA manage 2nd.

11.10 Vaal - JET TO PARIS - Nicely bred newcomer at 40's

11.40 Vaal - GENTLEMANS WAGER - Big drifter on debut ( though did open short at 9/2 ) and showed nothing. Will strip fitter today however and addition of blinkers could do the trick at 33's

12.10 Vaal - KUNGFOOFIGHTING - Still above last winning mark, but did go very close off current mark in September and 2 of 3 career wins have been this trip. Remains in fair form and decent EW shout at 16's

2.45 Vaal - MEXICAN PRIEST - Have backed Two Guns on a couple of occasions, and whilst should go well, can't have it at 6's. MP has had just the one run and is bred to be much better than that run suggests. Certainly should improve at 66's.

Two Guns has drifted to 9's, so gone it at that price and added it for the FC

3.05 Meydan - EL CHAPO and PICTURE NO SOUND - EC remains in good form and good fourth here last time gives him EW prospects at 14's. PNS does need more, but not sure this justifies the 66's on offer.

4.15 Meydan - KHAFOO SHEMENI and TUPI - Could turn into a Godolphin benefit race, but going with this pair at the prices. KS has a tricky draw, but does have potential and may try to get to the front early at 12's. Tupi has yet to hit form in the UAE, but record in Europe is pretty good and has a fair draw at 22's.

4.50 Meydan - CANNDERA - Should go to VAZIRABAD at the weights, but no value there at 7/4. Canndera represents the same connections and holds some fair form to date. Needs to improve but has plenty of scope at 25's.

6.00 Meydan - SMILING BLUE EYES - 2nd of 3 Mike DeKock runners and every chance at 14's if able to re- produce his South African form.

    Friday 2nd March -

12.15 Fairview - AQUALINA - Missed the 10's on OHSOBRIGHT and a bit short now at 6's. AQUALINA showed a bit more last time and is now down to a very attractive mark. Drops in trip, reverts back to turf and EW shout at 33's.

    Friday 2nd March -

4.20 Greyville - BOMBS AWAY - Not much elsewhere, but did trial here nicely and certainly bred to be half decent at 10's.

6.10 Greyville - FREE STATE - 3rd run back off a long break, so should be approaching peak fitness. Has run some fair races on the Poly and has the plum draw today at 10's

6.40 Greyville - OVER SURE - Had been on the go a while, so recent short break could benefit. Definitely worth another crack this trip and could be the surprise package at 12's.

7.10 Greyville - ROY'S BARBEL - Has shown on occasions in light career and has twice been a beaten favourite. Tough to know what to expect today, but the 33's does look big to me.

Not great initially, but ROY'S BARBEL won the last. Not as good as it looks though as the short priced FAV was a late scratching ( injured in stalls ) and so the 33's became 12's.
    slick and Punter like this.

Saturday 3rd March - Gauteng Guineas day over at Turffontein with a 12 race card to boot -

10.05 Turffontein - ANDIAMO - Precautionary bet on POSSIBLY NOT at 100's, but would be shocked if this won. ANDIAMO is also a big price at 28's, but does stand a realistic EW chance. Showed more than enough on debut and then dislodged his jockey out of the stalls on 2nd go. Nice draw today and can hopefully confirm debut promise.

Live coverage of Turffontein, Kenilworth and Meydan on ATTHERACES up until 1pm and the coverage began with a predictable 4th for ANDIAMO. Going with 3 in the next, all at prices -

    10.35 Turffontein -

TWICE THE MAN ( Fair debut was followed by a long lay off and did look in need of it last time. Potential is definitely there at 20's )
PIUS OIL ( High draw often a positive here and has bagged stall 16 of 16. Has had plenty of chances, but does have a squeak on best form at 33's )
BREACH OF TRUST ( Yet to be seriously put in a race in 4 starts, but not beaten that far last 2 and certainly bred to be better. Good 3lb claimer booked and for me is capable of much better at 50's )

11.05 Turffontein - HARINGTON PORT - Been with this one a lot lately and continues to be a bit erratic. Does have the ability to win races at this level though and happy to persevere at 14's.

1.25 Turffontein - BANKING APRIL - Banking on their being enough pace in the race for her and if able to lie handy, can come with a late run at 16's.

1.45 Meydan - PHILOSOPHER - Represents a dangerous stable and holds bits and pieces of form that offer hope at 33's.

2.30 Turffontein - ALSSAKHRA - Does look a pace maker for his fancied stable mate, but also capable of fair form and certainly should be prominent at 66's.

3.40 Turffontein - CUMBERLAND - Not the most consistent, but dangerous on a going day and does possess enough speed to get involved at 40's.

12.27 Kenilworth - TOMAHAWK - Once raced, possible improver at 50's.

PHILOSOPHER 3rd at a drifting 50's and when starting his run, looked like he might go even better. As mentioned above ANDIAMO was 4th at a price as was TOMAHAWK, who did at least show improvement. Others pretty poor and not sure what is going on with Harington Port. Suspect it will find a race somewhere, but not with my money.

    Sunday 4th March -

12.55 Greyville - MARK MY CARD and JUST MY STYLE - Pair of 10 /1 shots. MMC has either won or been close up in last 5 starts and looks to be holding form well. Has won of this mark and has a good record at the course. JMS is coming down to a very attractive mark and returns to the area having run some good races at the Vaal.

2.10 Greyville - PYRENEES IN SPAIN - Plodded round a bit last time, but still got within 5 lengths and generally solid prior to that. ( 3 wins from last 8 starts ) May just be better over a bit further, but a couple of these look likely to set a strong gallop and hoping that he can come with a late rattle at 20's

3.15 Greyville - Real tough looking h'cap and originally got it down to 7. ICED UP, THE MONEY MAN and EMPEROR NIARCHOS, could all go well, but decided to go for it with 4 at big prices along with the FC / TC -

NIGHT LOCK ( Has a decent draw, ran well last time and has a good course record at 14's )
SCOTCH BRIAR ( Decent sort on a going day and chance at 20's if fit, back off a break )
SIYAKWAMUKELA ( Not so good recently, but form of last win is pretty good and looks an EW threat at 20's )
HIT AND RUN ( Moderate post maiden form, but quickly down to 61 and is the trainer's only runner today at 33's )

4.55 Southwell - PAMMI - Does at least go on the surface and bred to stay this longer trip, so don't mind risking the 50's on offer.
