3.20 Vaal - CATEGORY FOUR - In fair form, nicely weighted and 1 for 1 this trip at 33's.

7.00 Chelmsford - ZAFARANAH - September win came off 6lb lower and ended 2019 in good form. Back off a break, but capable of going well fresh at 12's

8.30 Chelmsford - EZZRAH - Doubled in price, but cannot rule out in this company at 33's.

11.20 Turffontein - AMBERGLO STAR - Still just about in the notebook and do feel the first time blinkers could have an effect at 50's

12.30 Turffontein - CHRISTOPHER ROBIN - Been running OK lately and has won here in the past. Also looks fairly weighted at 25's.

2.20 Turffontein - NICKY NOO - Likes it here and has won some decent races in the last year. For me, not as much to find as 18's suggests. POOL PARTY a fair alternative at 11's

3.30 Turffontein - ROYAL TIGER - Promise on debut, poor on 2nd run and then not beaten too far last time. Do feel the ability is there at 10's

1.05 Turffontein - IRISH DAME - Surprised that BALLET SHOES is the early 11/2 and could see this one opening a lot shorter. Cover bet therefore on that one, but ID also comes here in fair form and certainly should have plenty of pace to aim at. Looks a decent outside bet to me at 20's.

5.15 Navan - SPLENDID DECISION - Bit keen on debut, but hinted at ability and should improve today at 66's.

5.30 Newcastle - LADY VILLANELLE - Previous winner, an Elliott runner and a Nicky Richards newcomer in the field, which partly explains why this one is 25's. Not sure she should be anywhere near this price based on debut run.

6.00 Wolverhampton - NICKY BABY - Fair placed form recently and can improve for the step up in trip at 18's.

8.30 Wolverhampton - SHECANDOO - Related to enough winners to be of interest and the sire gets winners on the surface. Interesting newcomer at 16's.

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN won nicely yesterday at an SP of 22/1 and IRISH Dame was a slight drifter to 25's, but did manage 3rd. ROYAL TIGER came 2nd and is still worth following.

Gone with a few today, with a couple at very big prices -

11.10 Greyville - CONSOL QUEEN - First sign of life last time when 3rd to a subsequent winner. Fair chance, if repeating that at 14's.

12.20 Greyville - MAZAVAROO - Still quite lightly raced and for me, the ability is there. Worth a crack this trip at 33's.

1.30 Greyville - NOEMI - Has won here and was joint FAV last time when 4th. Been dropped for that and has the assistance of a useful 9lb claimer, so really ought to go well at 10's.

1.40 Limerick - MYLES MILAN - Stable 2nd string and may be one more for the future. Bred to like a slog though and the heavy ground makes this one interesting at 25's.

5.20 Limerick - MILLIWAY - Just the 5 left, but naturally has Mullins and Elliott runners to contend with. Does look very nicely bred though and is getting weight all round at 50's.

11.45 Greyville - MISS TWIST - Going with a couple of " sensible " ones as well in the form of TWICE AS SPECIAL at 7's and CRIMEA at 10's, but despite coming back off a 57 week break, do still like the look of MT at 50's. One of her better efforts was off the back of a 36 week hiatus and has continued to fall in the ratings, so is potentially well handicapped and could even improve for only her 2nd start this trip.

Bit of late money for MISS TWIST ( Interesting off such a long break ) and only beaten 2 Lengths back in 3rd at 33's. Solid from CRIMEA in 2nd. TAS ran a shocker in last.

11.40 Vaal - STRATPLAN DORA - Fair efforts to date and upped in trip for stable debut at 12's.

12.10 Vaal - WINGS OF LIGHT - Solid enough lately and the stable remains in goo dorm at 10's.

12.50 Vaal - PALACE GREEN - Likes the trip, goes without the headgear and Strydom booked at 10's.

1.30 Vaal - BIG BLUE MARBLE - Consistent out the maidens and handicapper starting to relent at 14's.

2.35 Wetherby - ROBIN DES CHAPP - Nicely bred newcomer at 12's.

5.20 Down Royal - SIT DOWN LUCY - Nicely bred and the stable elect at 16's.

5.35 Wexford - ONTHEFORTY - Related to enough decent sorts on debut at 33's.

Hong Kong Derby Day tomorrow morning our time and having 3 bets on the day, including one in the big race -

5.00 Sha Tin - COOL ACE - Fair 2nd start, but backward step next time out. Bit to prove therefore, but has the first time blinkers at 28's

8.05 Sha Tin - KING OF HEARTS - Gets the drop in class he desperately needed and has a fair draw to work with at 16's

8.35 Sha Tin - DECRYPT - Placed in Irish 2,000 Guineas and also on three of first four HK starts. Top 3 in the betting are taking up the majority of the market and are clear on official ratings. Do think the pick has a bit more improvement left at 25's

Be a strange experience for a big HK event, as tomorrow's meeting will be held behind closed doors.
