Euro 2016 comes to an end on Sunday afternoon, as France look to claim their first major honours since winning Euro 2000.

The match then was a cagey affair where France bested Italy in extra time thanks to David Trezeguet’s golden goal in the 103rd minute, and the French may well be expecting a similarly tight game against a defensive and organised Portugal team which has reached the final having won 1 game in regular time in the whole tournament.

France go into the encounter as the strongly-backed favourites with the tie being played at the Stade de France in Paris, which will hand Les Bleus a big home advantage. They’re 1/1 (2.00) to win in 90 minutes whilst Portugal are less fancied at 15/4 (4.75). Given that the two teams have had 5 draws between them at the tournament, it’s not unreasonable to think that the final could be going into extra time or penalties, and the draw is priced attractively at 11/5 (3.20).

French manager Didier Deschamps will be looking to the likes of Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann to secure the silverware, with the latter almost certain to finish as the tournament’s top goalscorer having scored an impressive 6 goals so far.

Throughout the tournament France have played exciting, attacking football and there’s been over 2.5 goals in 3 of their 5 games. bet365 are quoting 8/5 (2.60) that there will be more than 2.5 goals in the final.

Conversely, Portugal have approached their games with caution despite boasting the attacking talents of the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo and, to a lesser extent, former Manchester United winger Nani and Portugal have averaged only 1.33 goals per game, with only 1 of their 5 games delivering over 2.5 goals. The odds reflect this heavily, with under 2.5 goals priced at 19/40 (1.47).

Should the teams fail to distinguish themselves from one another in regular time, bet365 are offering odds on the method of victory for the eventual champions. Those who fancy Portugal to win in extra time can back them to do so at a huge 20/1 (21.00), whilst the French are 10/1 (11.00) to snatch victory in extra time. If the teams are still at a deadlock after 120 minutes, bet365 are 10/1 (11.00) about either team lifting the trophy after penalties.

With that in mind, it’s worth noting that bet365 are still offering their fantastic Penalty Payback promotion for the final – back either team in the ‘To Win Outright’ market and if they’re beaten on penalties bet365 will refund your stake! That’s not all, bet365 are also still offering their Euros Bore Draw Money Back promotion, which will refund all losing bets on selected markets if the game finishes 0-0 in 90 minutes:
