Qualifying matches have just started with Ireland, Namibia, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, Scotland and Papua New Guinea fighting for the last 4 spots in the main tournament. SL and Bangladesh should make it through, but all side look capable. The Dutch and Irish would also be fancied to get through, but I could see Scotland sneaking in with their bowling attack catching the eye. Josh Davey and Brad Wheal have plenty of experience and I also rate all - rounder Micheal Leask.

Whoever qualifies, it is T20, so am expecting an upset or two in the main tournament, with the likes of Ireland's Paul Stirling and Holland's Roleof Van De Merwe and Paul van Meekeren three guys more than capable of match winning performances.

Scotland win by 6 runs over Bangladesh and are now in a very good spot to qualify for the main tournament.

Scotland have won all 3 qualifiers and are now in the " Super 12's " They go into Group B, joining India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the winner of Friday's match between Ireland and Namibia. Josh Davey has done particularly well with the ball taking 8 wickets and at an economy rate of just under 6.

Didn't even know this was taking place Samoan.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm not a big cricket fan but do enjoy the T20 and 50 over world cups.

Ireland lost their final qualifying game and so bow out. The main tournament begins tomorrow ( Saturday ) with Australia taking on South Africa at 11am. England v West Indies follows at 3pm, with the Scots opening group game against Afghanistan on Monday. Interesting the Scots are slightly shorter in this game than they were for their qualifier against Bangladesh and they will certainly benefit from having played 3 highly competitive games to qualify.

Took a few bets on leading tournament run scorer / wicket taker. Bet365 are counting runs / wickets already taken in the qualifying event, so a few guys have a decent head start.

    Top Tournament Run Scorer

    Mohammad Rizwan ( Pakistan ) at 20's
    Josh Inglis ( Australia ) at 50's
Andre Russell ( West Indies ) at 66's

    Top Tournament Wicket Taker

    Josh Davey ( Scotland ) at 6's
    Rashid Khan ( Afghanistan ) at 20's
    Mohammad Nabi ( Afghanistan ) at 100's
